Regurgitation factor in the mitral valve
Notation in mathematical model
rVRHL
Allometric exponent
0

The parameter describes mitral insufficiency leading to blood regurgitation from the left ventricle to the left atrium and pulmonary vein in diastolic phase. This pathology is named "mitral valve failure".

The mathematical description of this pathology is determined by the equation describing blood flow through mitral valve:

(41)

The second part of the formula describes the process of blood regurgitation through aortic valve in diastolic phase in case of valvular locking defect (0 < rVRHL< 0.3). In its normal state rVRHL takes on the value 0.
